The USCG has implemented new passenger headcount requirements based on modernized weight calculations. Southern Drawl has received a headcount allowance of 50 passengers from the USCG MSO. Beginning Dec 1st, 2011. Please verify that the boat you plan to charter holds a INSPECTED PASSENGER VESSEL CERTIFICATE from the Coast Gaurd. NOT just a Coast Gaurd Safety Check- a canoe can get one of those- Its an actual certificate that must be posted at all times- visible to all passengers-and presented upon request for inspection. If you are aware of a vessel carrying more than six passengers for hire (paying) without this Certificate of Inspection to carry Passengers—call us –we will notify the USCG and reward you for being a good citizen.
